Start at 37 and count by ones: 38 is 1 tick on. From 59, the next is 60: a new ten starts.

  1. Find the number you start at: 37.
  2. Move 1 tick on for each number you count.
  3. Say where you land: 38.

You can start counting at any number, not only at 1.

Each tick on is 1 more.

After a number that ends in 9, the tens go up: 59, then 60.

Start where you are. Count on by ones. After a 9, a new ten starts.

Going back to 1 to count up to 38.

Start at 37 and count on: 38.

After 89 comes ___? — 90. 89 ends in 9, so a new ten starts: 90.

Count forward from 47 to 52

We don't always start counting from one. Today we'll start at forty-seven and keep going!

Here's our number line. We begin right here at forty-seven.

One hop forward — forty-eight.

Hop again — forty-nine.

Forty-nine is the last number in the forties. What comes next?

Fifty! After forty-nine, we start a brand-new decade.

Fifty-one. The fifties work just like the forties.

Fifty-two. We did it!
