Terms

The agreement between your family and us: who may use Brainsladder, what it costs, how to stop paying, and what each of us is responsible for.

Last updated 13 October 2026

Who we are

Brainsladder is a K–8 practice program for families, run by Brainsladder.

Write to us at 92 Corporate Park, Ste C #1091, Irvine, CA 92606, or at hello@brainsladder.com. A reply to any email we send reaches the same person.

Brainsladder is in beta

Any family can sign up while we finish building the product. Everything on this page describes the product as it is today.

Who may use it

Brainsladder is for adults, practising with the students in their care. You must be eighteen or older to make an account, and by making one you confirm that you are the parent or guardian of every student you add to it.

A student never makes an account. They have no email address here and no sign-in of their own with us; they reach practice through a link you send them or a username and password you set for them, and everything they do belongs to your family’s account, under you.

What it costs

The first 14 days are free and we ask for no card to start them. After that there is one plan, which covers up to four students: $19 a month, or $149 a year.

You choose a plan on your Plan page, and Stripe takes the payment.

It renews until you stop it

A plan renews automatically at the end of each period — every month, or every year — at the price above, until you cancel. We tell you the price and the length of the period before you buy, and the day it renews is printed on your Plan page.

You can cancel at any time, online, from the same Plan page you started on. There is no call to make and nobody to ask. Your plan then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and stops. Nothing your family built is taken away: every star, every report and every packet log stays and stays readable.

Refunds

If you ask within 14 days of your first payment, we refund it in full, for any reason or none. After that we do not refund part of a period you have started; you cancel, and the plan runs to the end of what you paid for.

What we ask of you

Use the account for your own family’s students. Do not share your sign-in outside your household, do not copy the questions or the worked answers to use somewhere else, and do not try to break the product, take it apart automatically, or get at another family’s information.

What belongs to whom

What your family puts in and what your students earn are yours: the names, the grades, the answers, the stars, the reports. We hold them for you, we do not sell them, and you can take them or delete them whenever you like.

The program itself — the ladder, the questions, the worked answers, the writing and the drawing — is ours. While you have an account, your family may use all of it for your own students; that permission ends when the account does.

What we do not promise

We build this carefully and we test it, and we still cannot promise that it will never be wrong, never be down, or suit every student. Brainsladder is practice, not schooling, and it is not advice about a particular student’s education. You use it as it is.

What we are responsible for

If we get something wrong, what we owe you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before it happened — and if you have paid us nothing, then nothing. We are not responsible for indirect losses: a lost opportunity, a lost result, time spent.

Nothing here takes away a right the law gives you that cannot be signed away, and in particular nothing here limits what we owe you for our own fraud.

Ending it

You can close your account at any time from your Plan page, which deletes the family and every student on it. We can close an account that breaks these terms or that is being used to harm somebody, and we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right wherever it is safe to do so.

If these terms change

The date at the top moves and we email you before a change that matters to you takes effect. Carrying on using Brainsladder after that is how you accept it; if you would rather not, close the account and, if you have paid for a period you have not used, tell us and we will refund it.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the State of California, and any dispute belongs to the courts of California. What we do with your family’s information is set out in the privacy policy, which is part of this agreement.
