Each next number is one more.

Counting up adds 1.

Read it: 1 more is the next number

There are 7 counters. 1 more comes in. Count them all: now there are 8.

  1. Count the counters: 7.
  2. 1 more comes in.
  3. Say the next number: 8.

When 1 more comes in, the count goes up by 1.

The number 8 comes right after the number 7 when you count.

So 1 more than a number is the next number you say.

1 more is the next number.

Saying 7 again, because the 7 counters are still there.

1 more came in. Count on: 7, then 8.

What is 1 more than 3? — 4. 4 comes right after 3.

Counting 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5

Let's learn something cool about counting. Every time we count to the next number, we add just one more!

Here is one apple. We say one.

Add one more apple. Now we have two!

Add one more. Now we have three!

Add one more. Four apples!

Add one more. Five apples!
